5 Books I Read On Vacation (And Why You Should Read Them Too)

book recommendations

One of my favorite things about vacation is all the free time I have to read. With the amazing views and lack of cell service, there’s always plenty of time to do some quality reading. In May I spent 2 weeks in Europe and I had a lot of down time on the planes and trains that got us from country to country. Here are the 5 books that I read- and loved- on my last vacation.

The Crazy Rich Asians trilogy

I got the recommendation to pick up the first book of this trilogy from a random lady at the book store (where ever you are I thank you dearly.) She told me it was a cute easy read and that she loved the whole series. I purchased the first one before I left but by the time my first connection flight landed I was done with it. It’s such a cute story and here’s the biggest plus; they’re making it into a movie! The first film is coming out in August and the trailers look fantastic. If you’re into fashion, travel, international culture and high society, this book series is for you. The next two books were just as cute and a great way to pass time on travel days. I highly suggest you jump into this series before it hits the big screen, since we all know the book is always better than the movie. (Click on any image below for more information and to buy.)

Indecent

I read this cute novel while I was in Germany for a few nights. It’s a cute short story about a new teacher struggling to adapt to the pressure of balancing it all, something we can all relate to. This book took my emotions on a rollercoaster-from anxious to happy and sad to somber- all in a matter of pages. This isn’t exactly a happily ever after dreamy love story, but we all need some variety in our lives. (Click on the image below for more information and to buy.)

Nine Woman, One Dress

This is the sweetest story I’ve read in a while. Each chapter is from a different woman’s perspective and they’re all tied together by (yep you guessed it) one killer dress. This book tugs on the heartstrings of every fashion lover. It reminds me why I love clothes and how the right outfit makes you feel on top of the world. The women in those stories are all little pieces of what we aim to be- smart, confident and on top of the world- all in the right dress. (Click on the image below for more information and to buy.)

I hope this post helped you find a new must read for the summer. Whatever your plans may be for vacation- whether it be somewhere tropical or just your own backyard- there’s nothing like a good book to make it a perfect trip.
